Sorry to hear about your back.

Hope you don`t mind me asking but what age are you?

Have you ever been diagnosed with any disc problems in your back?

Does your back only hurt after playing golf or does it bother you at any other time?

Just trying to get a bit of an idea of what might be causing your problem and give you a solution hope fully.

Regards

Hi there, thanks for replying I am 49 and I have never had problems with back before, i did see a osteopath before after bad posture during fitness training caused some probs however she sorted it after 2 sessions. I do get a bit if stiffness pain in back when stood for a long time, ie; 8 hour golf marshalling. My back pain does ease off during day as i warm up also wife thinks one side of muscles in back seem tighter pulling me to one side or that might be me compensating for other probs.

Many Thanks

Have you changed your shoes recently? i.e before back started to give you problems.

Did the osteopath do any core assesments with you? i.e there are specific core (abdominal muscles etc)test to make sure they are firing properly. Sometimes it is poor core muscles that actually cause back pain.

Try this one test for me please.

Stand up,have your wife put two fingers pressing against you navel (not to hard) have her other hand at same height as navel on your back then bend forward to about 90 degrees. Ask her to tell you if she feels as if your stomach is moving in towards you back or coming out away from you back as you are bending forward.

Let me know the results, it might take a few attempts to get a feel of whats happening.
