Golf Fitness workshops
Golf Fitness workshops will be held throughout the UK, these workshops focus on golf specific conditioning based on: posture; flexibility; stability; strength; power; coordination and endurance. A Golf Performance Evaluation may be completed during these workshops.
Posture: The S-Posture is a swing fault that can be caused by the player creating too much arch in their lower back by sticking their tailbone out too much in the set up position. This can lead to lower back injuries. C-Posture is used to describe a posture that occurs when your shoulders are slumped forward at address and you have a definitive roundness to your lower back.
Flexibility: This assesses how much flexibility a player has throughout the golf swing. A player that usually lacks flexibility in the golf swing will hang back. The golfer will have a lack of power, reducing ball flight, and a lack of consistency in their game.
Stability: This assesses how stable a golfer is with their swing. Common swing faults that are found with most golfers are usually a sway or a slide. This is defined by too much lateral movement away or towards the target line during the swing.
Strength: Strength training brings the necessary ingredient for making the athlete strong enough to control the golf club throughout the swing. Strength training also increases neuromuscular efficiency, adding more control over the body.
Power: Training for power is the last thing you should develop. Power is dependent on stability, mobility and strength. Being without any of these components usually causes inconsistencies in your game.
Coordination: Improving coordination helps golfers have fluidity in their muscle movement, which increases their ability to minimize the force on their joints and muscles during their swing.
Endurance: Increasing endurance helps keep your game consistent right down to the 18th hole.
Do your legs or back feel sore or tired at the end of a game? If yes, this is stopping you playing your best golf.
